About me and my journey

Hello! I’m 25~ years old patzer that wants to improve at chess. This website serves me as some kind of a diary – to track my progress, describe the things I do, and maybe to share something useful for someone from time to time.

What’s my level of chess skill?

I do know some basics, but I’m still very far from being any good. I play on lichess and currently my ratings are:

  • 1670~ at blitz
  • 1750~ at rapid / classical

Also I’m like 1900~ in hyperbullet and 2000~ in ultra, but I don’t count this as a result of my chess skill.

When have I started?

I learned chess when I was like 6 or 8. I took some classes in a chess club in my primary school. I also played in two tournaments (managed to win just one game :)). Then, I stopped thinking about chess for a quite some time.

In 2016 I somehow regained my interest in chess and started playing casually from time to time on the Internet.

In December 2018 I decided to do something to actually improve at chess.

How do I want to improve?

I want to do something every day. This may include doing tactics, studying chess books, playing games, and other activities.

At the beginning of each week (usually on Monday) I make a detailed plan for the next seven days. Look here for the most recent one.

As a rule, I want to make each week better than the previous one.

What’s my ultimate chess goal?

I don’t know. I think I’d be pretty happy if I had 1900~ blitz rating on lichess, as this would be a sign of me being able to improve (also 1900 means being better than ~90% of players on the site).

Also, it would be great to be able to play a quality blindfold chess game, but I don’t think it is possible without being able to play normal chess on a decent level.

I sometimes dream about higher goals, but I don’t think they are realistic.
